“My parents’ divorce taught me to be more compassionate. It brought a deep and profound sadness into my life that I had never experienced before. That sadness taught me to see others differently. It helped me realize that behind smiling faces there might be aching hearts. It taught me to be more kind towards others and inspired me to uplift those who were down. My parents’ divorce taught me what to look for in a partner. Through processing what went wrong in my parents’ marriage, I have been able to create a vision of the type of relationship I want and had the conviction not to settle for anything less.”
